So some guy (Zak Smith) decided it would be a great idea to illustrate Thomas Pynchon’s ridiculously ambitious and ridiculously difficult-to-read magnum opus Gravity’s Rainbow, one illustration for each of its 760 pages.  (Check out an excerpt of the book here.  It’s in the league of Proust and Joyce in terms of how many people think they would be respected if they read it, and how many people fail to get past the first few pages.)  Here is the illustration for the first page (fitting as that is about as far as I have read in the book):
