The Taser's Edge

Loving God vs. Loving Neighbor?

Ps. 109:8–“May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership. May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.”

I’m glad to say that that particular t-shirt is no longer for sale, but the pastors who popularized the idea are still preaching, still teaching their people how to incorporate the Psalms into their prayer lives.  From a Salon.com article back in November:

“Are you praying for his death?” [Alan] Colmes asked [Pastor Wiley] Drake, referring to President Obama. “Yes,” Drake replied. “So you’re praying for the death of the president of the United States?” Colmes asked. “Yes.” “You would like for the president of the United States to die?” Colmes asked once more. “If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around, I am asking God to enforce imprecatory prayers that are throughout the Scripture that would cause him death, that’s correct.”

Interesting to me is that Wiley, on the only website I could find connected to him, is still pushing the Presidential Prayer Team which grew so huge when GW Bush was president.  Compare his comments above to these from his website

The Presidential Prayer Team has asked that I relay this information to my friends and colleagues so that it will reach its goal of enlisting 2.8 million people (1% of the population) to pray daily for the President.

I recommend that you join this effort and provide encouragement to the President in this way.
