The Taser's Edge

Last Friday, I spent 9am-3:30pm at Avila Retreat Center north of Durham.  A couple images and thoughts to share:

This path, covered with moss or something green, leads to "The Hermitage." I like the image of the road ahead as teeming with life, overrun with vibrant green growth.

The trunk on the left is where all the roots are on this strange tree, but look above the base of the tree and you see two separate trunks, each with its own branches. I don't know what this might be a metaphor for or why/how this tree happened. Any explanation, Glenn?
