The Taser's Edge

A Prayer

Our church has a team of prayer ministers whose most public ministry is to be available to worshippers after we receive the Eucharist each Sunday.  These are that kind of gifted people who live so much into their spiritual lives that they no longer fit very well into the world as most of us know it, and they bring the gift of awkwardness into the world.

This morning, as part of a new move toward prayer appointments in which the prayer team prays for each staff member monthly, two folks anointed my head with oil, laid hands on my shoulders, my head, my heart, and prayed for 30-40 minutes.  Very early this prayer bubbled up in me, and I found myself repeating it over and over.  Feel free to take it as your own:

Holy Spirit, show me Jesus’ face, and I’ll know I have seen the Father.
